About the transmission project

New Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) network infrastructure will be built to enable new generation and storage projects to connect and transport energy to consumers, both in and outside the REZ.

Some of this infrastructure will need to be built outside the REZ geographical area to connect the REZ to the main backbone transmission network. As the Infrastructure Planner for the REZ, EnergyCo is in the early stages of assessing what new network infrastructure should be built to unlock and service the New England REZ.

We have identified a preliminary study corridor to host essential electricity transmission infrastructure in the New England and Upper Hunter.

Community consultation on the preliminary study corridor will begin shortly.

Community information sessions for New England REZ

It is critical that new REZ transmission infrastructure is delivered in a way that minimises the impacts on, and maximises the benefits for the communities and landowners who will host it. Community and stakeholder engagement during the planning process will help to identify potential impacts on individuals and/or communities as a result of the project.

Information, sentiment, and specific issues and concerns raised by the community will be included in the planning assessment process, and considered in the design of the project and/or the development of appropriate mitigation measures.
